THE EVOLUTION OF COMBAT
What is King of the
Cage? - The Evolution of Combat!
"King of the Cage" . . . The finest in Mixed Martial Arts (MMA)
competition . . . The evolution of combat.
Featuring only professional, elite fighters from around the globe, "King
of the Cage" is a competitive event pitting warrior against warrior in
hand-to-hand battles of skill, honor and art.
From Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to wrestling, Muay Thai to boxing, all styles are
encouraged. But, in order to consistently win, participants must be well
versed in every aspect of the fighting game.
"King of the Cage" . . . It's about punches, kicks, elbows, knees, big
knockouts, technical submissions, take-downs, and strategy. It's like no
other sport you've ever seen!
Through dozens of shows in front of packed houses nationwide, "King of the
Cage" continues to strive to take the sport to the mainstream. The
sanctioning of mixed martial arts by states such as Nevada has brought
credibility to the sport, and the rest of the country will find out what
fight fans have always known. There are rules to protect the competitors
and the sport is as safe, if not safer, than many of the major league
American sports.
Which style will reign supreme? Which man will be left standing? Who will
be the King of the Cage?

Where It All Started
Terry Trebilcock & Ted Williams
have played a vital part in the promotions for full contact sports. During
this interview, as a group project, we had no idea what to expect from
this up coming discussion. What came out of this was a well-earned respect
for the hard work, preparation, and determination to make dreams come
true.
Terry graduated from Claremont High School in Southern California, and
enrolled in Cal. State Fullerton taking business classes. He has had his
hand in different business venues, but one particular business caught his
eye about 10 years ago.
Terry is the owner of an entertainment-sporting event called King of the
Cage (KOTC). The event is a mixture of several different martial arts,
which pits one person's martial arts style versus another. It is a full
contact sport, which is slowly but surely making its way to the mainstream
public, and most importantly into our living rooms everyday.
This paper was to be written, as a class/group project on
entrepreneurship, but what we found was a man, a team, and an organization
that is leading the next wave of sports entertainment into our lives.
King of the Cage started back in 1998, when there was no understanding of
the mixed martial arts world, and what 21st century martial life was like.
This promotion is based out of Fontana, CA but the events are held all
over the United States.
King of the Cage was started due to Terry's vision after watching other
mixed martial arts events on TV. To get an understanding of what exactly
was taking place inside the ring, he enrolled himself in a few different
martial arts schools, as well as purchasing an instructional series by a
MMA legend named Royce Gracie.
As he began to pick up on the different techniques and styles that were
being used to defeat opponents that were bigger, faster, and more athletic
then he was, Terry began to teach at a Health Club called Cardio Fit in
the Inland Empire.
Once he grasped the concept of what was taking place between the fighters
inside the ring, he began to branch out and teach in different areas of
Southern California. As Terry tells it, an unknown man walked into his
class one day, and without warning began throwing not only himself but
also the rest of the class around the mat room. That person is named Ted
Williams. Ted and Terry formed a friendship from that day on, and it
continued into an entrepreneur partnership now known as King of the Cage.

K.O.T.C. Officials
It is not often fans and fighters do not realize how difficult it is to
referee a Cage fighting match. The number one job of an MMA official is to
protect the fighter at all times and this can sometimes be difficult to do
as you might have a fighter that will not tap, or you have a fighter who
can with stand some punishment and come back to win the fight. I have been
to several Cage fights and I can tell you that the referee's that I am
dedicating this article to are four of the best MMA officials in the
business. These four MMA officials have all been through one form of Mixed
Martial Arts while growing up and some now have become teachers of the
arts. You always have the fans do not like the fight to go to the ground
and will always be yelling from the audience "stand them up" and the
officials will warn the fighters to get busy or improve their position, if
the fighters do not do this then the fight is stood back up. I just wanted
to give the following four MMA Officials some props for one hell of a job
they have done and will continue to do until they decide to retire from
MMA officiating. So from Krazy Mike and kingofthecage.com
