Rancho Cucamonga, CA (July 17, 2014) MAVTV has signed an agreement with The Hollywood Channel to produce a new television MMA reality series based on King of the Cage titled Common Joe…Do you have what it takes? The show is set to air on MAVTV, which currently airs more than 8 hours each week of unstoppable King of the Cage action. Common Joe is the only show of its kind that gives an amateur fighter the chance to become a professional MMA fighter.
Hollywood Channel’s Jorge Elias is the executive producer of Common Joe. Elias has produced more than 350 television hours for many MMA organizations including King of the Cage.
“Mixed Martial Arts is probably the most difficult sport for an amateur to become a professional. There is no minor league system that exists for MMA, as in basketball, baseball or hockey. Some of the most physically-gifted and fascinating athletes in the world fight for King of the Cage, and I believe they make ideal subjects for an innovative new television series,” stated Terry Trebilcock, CEO and Founder of King of the Cage.
“Common Joe will explore the blood, sweat and tears, courage, instinct, perseverance, strength and tenacity needed to become a professional MMA fighter. The concept of this ground-breaking new series will broadly appeal to not only mixed martial arts fans, but to reality show enthusiasts as well,” stated Jason Patison, MAVTV’s Director, Programming.
