Saturday, October 13th, 2012 King of the Cage Inc., the world wide leader in live MMA events, Magnaflow Exhaust products, and Lucas Oil presents “Double Down.” This event will be held at the beautiful Gold Country Casino Resort located in Oroville, California. The event will be recorded and broadcast on national television.
Returning to the King of the Cage line up is a local favorite Josh Hinkle. Josh was the #1 contender for the
170 lbs Welterweight Belt and is now dropping to 155 to prove himself as a contender for that belt as well. Josh a veteran in the sport first stepped into the KOTC arena in November 2011 at the “Cage Quest” event; fighting through a hand that was broken in the 1st round and then all the way to a decision against Kenneth Alexander. Proving his game has not been affected by that set back, he takes on Kyle “The Jackhammer” Jackson. Jackson has a will to win and a never tap mentality which in this fight could end in the breaking of something. This fight is sure to be the highlight of the night as these two elite fighters take it all the way.
Also, tribal member Aaron Hedrick and a fellow teammate of Josh Hinkle returns again to King of the Cage fighting Tramain Smith who trains under Northern California legend Dave Huckaba. Both fighters have 10 professional fights, both have good stand up and good ground defense and both have more to prove.
For some female fight entertainment we welcome LaTasha Marzolla from Gene Fields's Team Voodoo to her professional fighting debut. She began her love for competition while on her High School Junior Varsity Wrestling Team. This former K1 contender, WWE wrestler, mother of two and 2004 Playmate of the Year will prove she is in the right place at the right time when she takes on Maria “The Real Deal” Andaverde. Maria started training in the Martial Arts at a young age and learned early on how to have focus and commitment. This mother of three is a member of the 1st Armed Division of the National Guard and was educated as an Electro-Mechanical Engineer and was involved with the development of the Hover Craft. She was the 1st female ever to be inducted into this division where she went on to train her fellow comrades in Muay Thai and kept them at their physical best by teaching them extreme Cardio. This winner of the Soldier of the Year Award for all of Eastern Europe was the only female entry in this competition and has earned her the respect and admiration of soldiers who every day put their lives in each others hands. Andaverde is also the creator of an MMA Blog called Knockout Mammas and she doesn't see herself slowing down since she lives by the motto that “the more she has to do, the better she is at the things she does best” is she is definitely living up to that.
A rivalry that has been a point of contention for quite awhile in this Northern California area is between KOTC Veteran Marcus “Little Tank” Ocegueda and Caleb Vallotton. These two combatants have wrestled each other through High School and both went on to train in MMA. Since fighting for KOTC in April of this year, Marcus has opened his own training center in Chico called Elite Martial Arts. As amateurs they were never matched yet the rivalry still lives on and on October 13th we'll see who has the upper hand in this struggle between these two warriors.
Also on this card is KOTC Veteran Josh Paiva fighting Robby Schepps, Nick Christie, Daniel Price, Khomkrit “Killer B” Niimi, Brandon Waltz, Brennon Crow, Russell Pricer, Tyson Taclay, Mike Franco, Matt Wilson, Eddie McCleary

Lee “American Bulldog” Morrison vs. Drew “The Eternal Fire” Brokenshire 145lbs – Lee Morrison makes his debut with KOTC, but is no stranger to MMA. KOTC heavyweight contender Cody East speaks about stepping into his brother's spotlight and his shot at the title versus Tony "Kryptonite" Lopez at KOTC's April 14th "Bad Intentions 2" card this Saturday at WinStar World Casino in Thackerville, OK
Cody, you are the older brother of Tyler "The Beast" East, you had an impressive fight in KOTC's Tulsa card. How do you feel stepping up to this challenge in place of your brother and having a chance at a world title?
Cody: I feel good about it. I wanted to fight him since the first time he fought my brother. I know I can beat him and I am happy to get the opportunity.
How do you think your style plays into beating him?
Cody: I think I can stand with him and I think I can take him to the ground like when he fought my brother. My brother was a kid and inexperienced. I don't think he can match up with me.
So you're confident you're going to win?
Cody: I'm very confident I'm going to win by submission or KO.
He has a slight height advantage and awkward style. Do you think that will play a factor in this fight.
Cody: No, I've been training with Jon Jones and Travis brown in preparation for this fight. I don't think Ii could have had a better camp. They have height and reach, and throw awkward side kicks like Tony does, but in my opinion are faster than him.
What kind of training regimen have you undergone in preparation for this fight?
Cody: A lot of roadwork, a lot of running, 5-round sparring...I've put on a little weight in preparation for this fight, and a lot of cardio work, as this will be my first 5-rounder...and worked a lot on my kickboxing also. I felt an advantage is I have dozens of tape on his fights, and I know he has little on me.
Lopez seems to have an incredible ability to endure punishment. Does this intimidate you at all?
Cody: So does a heavy bag. I mean a he's tough as hell, but if he is happy to stand there and take a beating, I'm fine with that [laughs]. I think I could be the one to KO him even if it comes down to a long fight.
So in your opinion you feel you will be in control of the stand up and ground game?
Cody: Yea, I believe. So the last two guys I fought were 6'7". It doesn't affect me. Tony is only 6'5" only about an inch taller then myself. I can control where the fight takes place.
What will winning this world title mean to you? And if you do win, do you think your brother will be happy for you or jealous that you've taken his place?
I think he will be happy. I don't think he will be jealous. I mean there are other heavyweight belts, super heavy and 230lbs title and if he can't get one of those, I'm looking to take all three of them.

The new voice of King of the Cage is none other than world renowned fight announcer Dean Stone.
Dean returns to King of the Cage after almost a ten-year layoff. From 1999 to 2002, Dean was brought out to the West Coast to announce Pay-Per-Views for KOTC. But it was just a matter of time before Dean would return to KOTC.
"We are thrilled to have Dean Stone back as our announcer," said King of the Cage president and founder Terry Trebilcock. "Dean is truly one of the best announcers in the business and brings an unmatched level of professionalism to each and every event we do."
Dean got his break in the fight business in 1998. With the help of friends and people he was introduced to in boxing and after months of calling promoters trying to land his first gig, Dean finally got the break he was looking for. He was asked to announce an all-women’s professional boxing card at the Tropicana Casino & Resort in Atlantic City in May of 1998.
Since his debut that night in the ring, Dean instantly put himself on the map as a boxing ring announcer, and before long was hired to introduce a myriad of fights for various promoters. From 1998 to 2003, he became the premier announcer on the East Coast, successfully covering almost every noteworthy boxing event in Atlantic City as well as the Philadelphia and New York City metropolitan areas, many of which were broadcast on ESPN, Showtime and Pay-Per-View.
Both the casual fan and fight expert have made a unanimous decision that Dean is in fact one of the elite announcers in the business. But this is just the beginning of Dean's long-term goals as a fight announcer. He hopes to continue to call boxing and MMA events both nationally and internationally for many years to come. Dean's reunion with King of the Cage will surely help him reach those aspirations.
